I’m excited about this new series I’m calling WTWF (What To Wear For) where I’ll present looks and suggestions for the places you could wear these Vincent James’ pieces styled into elevated + chic looks. I find it helps not only when deciding whether or not to buy but also to help reduce decision fatigue when you’re looking at a full calendar of events ahead.
Speaking of your decision to buy something, I’d like to reiterate a concept I’ve addressed briefly before: the power of our purses. With election day just 1 week away, we can feel the energy, hope and promise of our vote. But even if our preferred politician isn’t in office, we still have (and always have had) the power to influence and make a real impact toward the world we want to see.
What we buy matters. The domestic organic cotton we use for a number of our pieces at Vincent James is sourced from a small, sustainable company in Asheville, NC where hurricane Helene caused so much devastation. Their website asks that we help sustain and support them by choosing to buy their products. They provide substantial, meaningful jobs in western North Carolina and surrounding areas where the product is spun, knit and processed. Small businesses in our communities and our country depend on our purchasing power to help keep their companies alive when something tragic happens and thrive during less tumultuous times. I think we can all agree the resilience this creates is crucial for our country at this time.
And now, WTWF
Look 1 (above)
The Jane Dress is the perfect throw on and go all day into night piece. It works for meetings with the teacher, design meetings over coffee or drinks, date night or a regular old work day. It couldn’t be chicer layered with your favorite jacket and is made from domestic organic cotton supplied by the above mentioned Asheville-based company (as are all the cotton knits featured here).
Look 2.
The regenerative organic pleated trousers with the domestic organic cotton tee is a go-to for me for that fancier luncheon or meeting to dinner look where you want to be comfortable in your own skin but convey your design-forward point of view.
Look 3:
The Leigh Pants, Margaret Top and Regenerative Domestic Cardigan works so well for soccer sidelines, travel days, weekday coffee/walking date, Sunday dinner with extended family, school drop off… you name it this look works. I actually wore a version of this today then switched to a trench coat since it looked like rain.
Look 4:
This is my go-to lately for dinner out on the town. I can’t get enough. The light weight US milled wool blazer could also work for a gallery opening, business casual meetings sub the shoes for something closed toe and even a holiday party with great jewelry and a clutch.
That’s it for today. I’ll be back with more of these in the days/weeks ahead since I find it to be very fun! And FYI everything Vincent James featured here is made in the USA from US milled fibers and fabrics with the exception of Leigh and Margaret as our country no longer has the mills capable of creating this kind of fabric (the fabric for these is milled in Italy but cut and sewn in NY, USA). Keeping the existing mills alive and even bringing some back is incredibly important to me and arguably the health and wealth of this country.
Thank you for being here and for your support for our values and for your style!
Heather
Pinning all of these looks for reference. Loved this post and look forward to seeing future versions :)
