The goal was 1 flight, sun, food, music, art + laughs. It’s almost always the same goal and the same group. Last weekend the destination was Miami and while it looked quite different than it did in our late 20s bachelorette days, it definitely didn’t disappoint.
After arriving from various cities Friday evening, my girlfriends and I wanted to avoid Uber’s and too much hassle so we stayed on Miami Beach visiting places within walking distance of our hotel. Saturday we ventured to Wynwood for an artsy and what felt more local vibe.
STAY
I would recommend a hotel in Miami beach over an airbnb- not always my preference for a girl’s weekend, but the access to the beautiful pools, beaches restaurants and people watching is worth it for a short stay. So many beautiful hotels- I think it really depends on your price point.
FRIDAY:
After wine at our outdoor hotel bar, the night went like this:
27 Restaurant: A mixture of Middle Eastern, South American + Caribbean dishes set in an eclectic/vintage tropical scene, the vibe was hip but relaxed. We had dinner outside (almost always my preference), went elsewhere for drinks and ended up back at their upstairs space for the DJ late night (aka 10:30 ;).
The Faena: We sat at their outdoor Tree of Life bar which was lovely just for the design (and espresso martini) alone. If/when I go back I’d splurge to visit The Living Room and enjoy the snacks which looked amazing + live music. I’d recommend any restaurant at The Faena for the other-worldly experience itself. The design, even if not your usual style, is awe inspiring.

SATURDAY:
AFTERNOON
Market at Edition: A patio lunch with 4 of my favorite people and a delicious spin on a French 75 was just what we needed. It was also a treat to experience the modern minimal vibe of The Edition Hotel. Matador Room, also at The Edition is supposed to be a good spot. Their pool was also very nice/glamorous.
EVENING:
We headed off Miami Beach to Wynwood for the art and scene + I’m so glad we did. A very different vibe worth experiencing if you haven’t already. I’ve been here during the day for a walking tour of the walls which I would recommend. At night the energy was warm + festive.
Dante’s HiFi: A very cool listening bar in Wynwood with great cocktails. We made a reservation which I believe is required. 1.5 hours was perfect to get us in the mood for a Saturday night on the town.
Doya: A “modern Aegean” restaurant with fantastic food for sharing, a beautiful patio + wine list and a festive yet refined vibe, this was the perfect dinner for our night out in Wynwood.
Lagniappe: I have to give credit to my girlfriends who always find live music wherever we go. Lagniappe reminded us a bit of Bacchanal Wine in NoLa for the effortless + french feel and buy it by the bottle service. This was a quick + easy Uber from dinner and on our way back to Miami Beach.

SUNDAY:
Cecconi’s: Located at the beautiful Soho Miami Beach, this restaurant is delicious for brunch or dinner and the scene is always good. We walked the board walk to and from to enjoy the Sunday morning Miami Beach scene before the flight home.
NEXT TIME:
Hiden: Next time we go back I want “the best sushi in town” which supposedly is here…especially because great sushi spots are hard to come by in Charleston.
Beach Boutique: Sending you to her Instagram to get a better idea of brands she carries. A fun place to shop.
Byblos: Eastern Mediterranean using local ingredients
More art. More sun.
WHAT TO WEAR:
It was a tad on the chilly side without the sun, indoors and at night which made a light layer perfect. Other than that I’d say shorts, skirts, dresses and sandals are fine for the weather. But closed toed shoes and pants would also work….a beautiful temperature really. Here’s my packing list:
Black Blazer (coming soon)
Vincent James sandals (coming soon)
Vincent James organic cotton sweat shorts (coming soon)
Reversible ribbed knit dress- I didn’t wear this but given 1 more meal/night I would have. My girlfriend wore hers to lunch…
Black merino sweater (coming fall)
Vintage lace skirt
swimsuit
Vintage silver pumps
Vintage sandals
Freda Salvador loafers

As usual I wore black + white…you can never go wrong- even in Miami!
